fter three years of going head-to-head, the Cities of Suwanee and Sugar Hill are trading their friendly rivalry for a common cause. This year, the neighboring cities are joining forces to round up more than 20,000 pounds of food and essential items for the North Gwinnett Cooperative.

For the past three years, Suwanee and Sugar Hill have faced off in the annual Community Food Fight to see which city could collect the most donations for the Co-op. The trophy may have changed hands, but the real winners have always been the Co-op and the local families who rely on its services year-round.

This year, the cities are changing the rules. Instead of competing against one another, Suwanee and Sugar Hill are rallying their communities around one big goal: 20,000 pounds of donations.

The Community Food Fight kicks off September 19 at Suwanee Fest and continues through October 18 at Sugar Rush. Residents, businesses, community organizations, and visitors are encouraged to contribute nonperishable food, hygiene products, and other essential items to help stock the Co-op’s shelves and support local families facing food insecurity.

The North Gwinnett Cooperative provides food assistance and other support to individuals and families throughout the North Gwinnett community. Donations collected through the Community Food Fight help the organization meet that need while bringing two neighboring communities together in support of a shared cause.
